Ben Ridge > This past weekend we made it back down to Kaikoura, in hopes of swimming with dolphins. Unfortunately the dolphins were fully booked, but we still had a good time by doing some other stuff.

Ben Ridge > One of the most colorful mushrooms I've seen was just off the hiking trail. It's the poisonous Amanita mushroom, says Heather. But it looks so tasty...
Ben Ridge > Having left cloudy Kaikoura, we headed up the mountains to Hanmer springs, where we spent some time in their hot springs and went on a few hikes. Here's the view from one of the hikes.
Ben Ridge > Can you find the sleeping seal in this photo? They were quite tough to spot, we constantly kept sneaking up on them. They're not small animals, but luckily they could care less that we were around.
Ben Ridge > One of the lethargic seals hanging out on the rocks. I finally got a chance to try out my fishing spear along these rocks, and although I didn't catch anything I definitely plan on doing it again.
Ben Ridge > The ferns were still in full effect on the trail.
Ben Ridge > This is a jellyfish that washed up on shore. The sun created some pretty psychedelic refractions...
