In this update: Abel Tasman National Park (again) - Golden Bay - Farewell Spit - Nelson Port - Kaikoura - Hanmer Springs - Playing with Water Drops again

Ben Ridge > Here we are looking slightly goofy as we start back on the Abel Tasman Coastal track, almost exactly where we left off last time we were here. We always wanted to complete the track, and now we got the chance.

Ben Ridge > A view of the night sky in the southern hemisphere. The famous Southern Cross" constellation is in the upper left corner of the photo, pointing to the upper right, which is due south. Alpha Centauris and Beta Centauris are the pointer stars that point to the cross; they are the two bright ones located in the middle of the photo. Lots of other constellations were out that night, as well as a faint glimpse of the McNaught comet.

Ben Ridge > Heather forgot her hiking shoes, and wore her crocs the whole way. Luckily the trail isn't very tough at all, so the crocs worked out fine.

Ben Ridge > Thousands of cicadas were out this time, as they are in lots of places in NZ.

Ben Ridge > The ferns were still in full effect on the trail.

Ben Ridge > The coastal track crossed several outstanding remote beaches, with not another soul in sight (except for Heather of couse).

Ben Ridge > We brought a snorkel and mask, which was a great idea. Although I forgot the underwater housing for the camera! That would have been nice.

$Ben Ridge > This is a jellyfish that washed up on shore. The sun created some pretty psychedelic refractions...$

Ben Ridge > Separation point, where we round the bend from calm waters to choppy waters. Seals like to hang out on this point.
