One of the most colorful mushrooms I've seen was just off the hiking trail. It's the poisonous Amanita mushroom, says Heather. But it looks so tasty...

I really like how this shot turned out. Heather was inside the tent lighting it up with her headlamp, and I had placed my headlamp beside the creek. 15 seconds later, this is how the shot ended up.

The ferns were still in full effect on the trail.

The northern point, called the Farewell Spit, is a needle long point of sand dunes and wild grass. Not many people up here, as its quite a ways from any town.

Cala lilys grow everywhere here, and they are huge. I caught this one after it rained and the sun came out.

We saved Christchurch for another day, and drove up to the seaside town of Kaikoura, where the campervan park had this huge inflatable rubber thing built into the ground, called the "bouncing pillow". Heather was very excited about it.

This is my favorite of all the water shots I took on my trip. Quintessential NZ wilderness if you ask me.

We visited the Karikari winery just as the weather turned glorious... a very picturesque spot overlooking the east coast in the Northland.
